Five objects our grandkids will never understand

The rate at which the technology progress these days is quite incredible. Have you ever thought about the fact that some things you thought would be forever in your life will probably vanish really soon? There are things out there that our grandchildren will never believe us existed, here’s my top 5 :

Video Cassette Recorder (VCR)

five-objects-our-grandkids-will-never-understand-0005-video-cassette-recorder

Yep! We could record TV shows on this, and rent movies! But don’t expect to be able to find a particular scene juste by entering the number in your remote. It would take also at least ten minutes to rewind a tape after use (oh and, the movie rental place would charge you extra if you didn’t “rewind” )

Postcards

five-objects-our-grandkids-will-never-understand-0004-postcards

Before the internet and e-mails/instant messaging/texting/electronically instantly forwarded thoughts, we used to send people we like postcards when we were away from them. Sometimes, we would even get back to these loved ones before the postcard even get there.

Music CDs

You know, we could stick at least a dozen songs on those if we were lucky.

“Cordless” phones

What do you mean? There was a time when you couldn’t use a phone if the receiver wasn’t plugged in? There was a cord on it?

Newspapers

Unbelievable, but there was a time when people would pay up to a couple of bucks to learn about news that happened a day or 2 ago…

Five mistakes in the movie Twilight

For many other girls out there, Twilight is a movie that takes a special place in their heart (ok, not at all for me but hey, whatever floats your boat!). But damn is there a lot of visual errors in this flick! Here’s my top 5 :

Top 5

Hair out, hair in

five-mistakes-in-the-film-twilight-0005-hair-out-hair-in

After Cullen saves Bella from being crushed by the van in the beginning, her hair is out of her jacket. When the shot changes, her hair is now safely stuck in her jacket.

Oxygen nasal tube changes place

five-mistakes-in-the-film-twilight-0004-oxygen-tube-changes-place

When Bella is at the hospital, the close-up on her face shows the nasal tube close to her eyes. As soon as the shot is out of the close-up, the tube is resting on her cheeks.

Auto-cleaning Jeep

After leaving the Baseball field, the jeep goes from muddy to clean in the meantime of a few shots.

Top 2
Disappearing backpack

When Bella and Cullen go in the woods, Bella drops her backpack near a tree. The backpack vanished in the following shot.

The self-closing button

Strange things are definitely happening in these woods. In one scene, the epaulette button on Cullen’s jacket is opened, and the next frame it’s closed.

Five incredible movies that should be made into videogames

Although we see a lot of movie based games out there, most of the videogames produced to “tie-in” with a blockbuster release is shovelware. Surprisingly, there’s a few movies out there which would make killer video games… here’s my top 5 :

Top 5
Max Max

five-incredible-movies-that-should-be-made-into-videogames-0005-mad-max

Your basic videogame story : In a distopian future, a biker gang killed your family (you’re an ex-cop), and now it’s personal!

Think GTA, mixed with Fallout and a touch of Max Payne.

Top 4
Escape from New York

Forget Solid Snake, enters Snake Pliskenn.

Set in the near future, in a crime-ridden USA that has converted Manhattan Island into a maximum security prison, you have 24 hours to find the President of the USA who’s just been captured by inmates after his plane crashed on the island.

You bring to the table all your ex-soldier expertise and your legendary fugitive status. Sounds like a cool standard Videogame script to me.

Top 3

Tremors

I don’t know about you, but one of the fun levels I found in “Lost Planet” was that one where we were chased/chasing the big worm near the beginning of the game. What a nice idea of what a full fledged “Tremors” game would be. Of course it would help to have a few more game mechanics in there, but you have the stuff of videogame legends in this Kevin Bacon classic!

Top 2

Serenity

To base a videogame on a great sci-fi story never hurt, does it?

What a great RPG style story with rich characters do we have in here. Think “Mass Effect” style, but with an even deeper sci-fi story.

Top 1

Equilibrium

five-incredible-movies-that-should-be-made-into-videogames-0001-equilibrium

One word : Gunkata!

Make this game mechanic something really interesting and you have an award winner videogame in no time!

For those of you who haven’t seen this innovative (especially for the fantasy martial art technique of the “gun kata” in there) movie, run rent it now! And you’ll be dreaming of the day when a videogame is made based on this…
